Disciples Resources

I am delighted that the holidays fit so well with my teaching schedule! The study on the incarnation of Christ began about a month before the calendar celebration of the birth of Christ, and was a perfect lead in to Christmas. Resurrection Sunday, being in mid-April, should line up with our study of the final week in Christ's earthly ministry; I plan on covering the fulfillment of Passover in His death. We will hopefully end with a month of study on His soon return (Maranatha!) and Glorious Appearing.

Bible: The Four Gospel Accounts Matthew, Mark, Luke, John
Incarnation Calendar
Adapted and expanded from Ann Hibbard’s “Family Celebrations: Meeting Christ in Your Holidays and Special Occasions”, this 25 day series of Bible Studies focuses on the incarnation of Jesus Christ through Old and New Testament scriptures. Children learn of Christ’s pre-existence as the Alpha and Omega, the Creator, and the Word; delve into Old Testaments prophesies about the coming Messiah; and study the historical account of His miraculous birth as recorded in the Gospels. Included are instruction for creating a visual felt calendar with pictures representing each lesson.

[We continued on after the new year with basically an expositional Gospel harmony study. It is a lot of reading (ie. all four Gospel accounts plus supplementary resources), but has proved to be fantastic for on the spot discipleship. I LOVE when "school" is indistinguishable from "Bible Time" (our name for family devotions).]
Gospel Harmony: A Chronological Chart of the life of Jesus Christ
 Ken Palmer
This chart organizes events from the life of Christ in approximate chronological order. It is divided up into 13 Lessons that can each be covered in one week, thus it is a 13 week study. If started in January, it ends approximately the week of Palm Sunday...perfect timing! The chart can be viewed and downloaded for free from LifeofChrist.org in a PDF format.

The Victor Journey Through the Bible V. Gilbert Beers
This wonderful resource uniquely approaches the Bible story by story with over 400 colourful pages of photographs, drawings, maps, and charts; more than 100 drawings from objects or monuments of Bible times; over 200 photographs of the Bible lands today; photographs of more than 50 archaeological discoveries; scores of reconstructions and diagrams; and dozens of colourful maps. In this easy to read, visual exploration of the Bible, you will discover around 250 of your favourite Bible stories with background information in word and picture.

Deluxe Then and Now Bible Maps Rose Publishing
With clear plastic overlays of modern day cities and countries, this indispensable resource helps clarify where specific Biblical events took place in relation to one another and where they are today. An excellent tool for Biblical study; we found it fun to follow Jesus during His early life and His three year ministry on these maps.

I love studying about my Lord with my children! In explaining things to such young hearts and minds, the Lord is giving me greater understanding in them myself..."unless you become as a little child, you will by no means enter into the kingdom of heaven"...
